The standard-sized staples and cleats are easily obtainable from any hardwood store. I debated between renting or buying, with the price for the Lotos it was a no brainer to buy. I was worried about such a low price, would the tool perform, well it did. This was my first hardwood floor job, 2 bedrooms about 400 sq ft, 3/4 inch oak. The tool performed flawlessly, not one jam. The only mistake I made, was hitting the tool too lightly, getting staples out is not easy if they don't go all the way down. Once I perfected the hitting stroke, I never had an issue. If I rented, my cost would have been higher than purchasing, and renting does not let you work at your own pace. Loading staples was easy, one wish would be for the tool to let you know staples are out. All in all this was a great purchase.
Worth it by Mike on amazon.com April 12, 2011If you're trying to decide if you should rent or buy then buy. It works as well as any I've rented. I use cleats because I think they hold better than staples and it sets them perfectly. The rental store can keep their Bostitch and I can keep my money. I'm a small time contractor and install hardwood maybe once or twice a year and could never justify the five or six hundred to buy the professionals choice nailer. My only gripe is that there's no carry case with it even though the box it came in says one is included. Odd.
